There’s no dancing around the fact that after week one, the Broncos need some work, as was expected coming into the season. Despite the lack of run support to a struggling Kyle Orton (who is and SHOULD BE) the starter for the time being, I liked what I saw. Mainly on the defensive side, the team seems to have taken a step in the right direction even though they allowed the second most rushing yards opening weekend with Oakland‘s Darren McFadden and company gaining 190 yds. on the ground. But it’s not the stats that I’m impressed with, it’s the play of the rookies; namely Von Miller and Rahim Moore. (more…)

This is to be my first “pick analysis” so to speak. I plan on doing this for a few of the picks. So here goes.

With one of their two picks in the second round, the Denver Broncos selected a <del>defensive</del> tackle, Orlando Franklin. While Franklin is in fact an offensive tackle going to a team with what is seen now as a desperate need at DT, I personally like the pick. At 6’6″ 315, I have no problem describing this guy as a tree with feet. He’s huge and although labeled a guard in college Franklin played all 13 games last season as the left tackle for the Hurricanes. He is projected to play opposite Ryan Clady as a tackle in the NFL. (more…)

Eric Decker, 6 receptions for 106 yards and 1 touchdown. Impressed? No? Understandable. Well what if I said he only caught a ball in 3 games all season? Now the stats look a little better don't they. His college stats are even more impressive with 21 touchdowns from his sophomore through senior years while averaging nearly 915 yards per season and 13.9 ypc. A guy who ranks 6th in Big Ten history in career receptions and 8th in Big Ten history in career receiving yards. Let's face it, this man can play receiver in the NFL if given the chance. Well, his chance might just be here.

Denver’s Eric Decker: The Up-and-Coming - Predominantly Orange - Predominantly Orange - A Denver Broncos Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.
