The Denver Broncos and the AFC West rank near the bottom of the league in terms of starting quarterbacks.

The hope is that the Denver Broncos prove doubters wrong sooner rather than later. But as of right now, some continue to disrespect the team, as well as the AFC West.

CBS came out with a list ranking each division in the NFL in terms of starting quarterbacks. The AFC West came in at seventh place out of eight.

The starting quarterbacks in the division are:

  • Drew Lock, Broncos
  • Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
  • Derek Carr, Raiders
  • Tyrod Taylor OR Justin Herbert, Chargers

As of right now, it does make some sense. After Mahomes, then I would say that Carr and Taylor are average. Lock has not had enough playing time for anybody to truly get a real feel of what he will turn out to be. Carr had a tremendous year for the Raiders in 2019, but is he truly that great? We would have to see more I think.

As for the Chargers, Taylor has started almost all 16 games in a season just three times in his nine years in the league and Justin Herbert is a rookie who we don’t know if he will start.

Drew Lock has been given the tools to succeed.

The Broncos gave Lock a bunch of help by drafting and signing weapons for him to utilize going forward and also used free agency and the draft to help protect him when he drops back to pass. That alone makes me believe that he is going to be a top-2 quarterback in the division.

Next. Impact of the crazy 2020 offseason. dark

While some people continue to doubt the Broncos, there are some that are fully onboard with the team going forward. It will be fun to see if Lock can live up to expectations and eventually see more and more people believing in him and the Broncos.
