Denver Broncos training camp 2017: Jamaal Charles will see increased work starting Wednesday in 7-on-7 work and team drills the week after…

If you wanted more Jamaal Charles, you’re about to get it.

For the first time since signing with the Broncos, Charles is going to get a chance to show off his explosiveness in 7-on-7 team drills.

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph announced on Monday that after the team’s day off on Tuesday, some players who have been held back as a precautionary measure will begin taking on a more increased role during practices.

Specifically for Charles, that means showing off his stuff in 7-on-7:

"“Jamaal, we’re going to sprinkle him in seven-on-seven and keep him out of the team drills because we don’t want to get him tangled. We’re going to start him seven-on-seven, more ending, then add team probably in the next week.”Vance Joseph (quotes via Denver Broncos PR)"

This is phenomenal news, considering up to this point, Charles has been really slowly eased back into work. He was wearing full pads with the rest of his teammates when the Broncos strapped them up over the weekend…

The Broncos will certainly keep a close eye on their ace in the hole. Charles is someone who can really help this team, but health is obviously a great concern after he didn’t really play much over the past two seasons with knee injuries.

Charles has declared he’s back to 100 percent, but the Broncos obviously aren’t going to take any chances.

If Charles can return to even 80 percent of what he was at his peak with the Chiefs, the Broncos got a major steal on the free agent market. One thing they have lacked is a home run threat at the running back position, even with the speed of Ronnie Hillman a couple of years ago.

Charles has a much better understanding of how to read blocks and has done it at a high level for a very long time.

It will be very interesting to see how the Broncos monitor his preseason snaps, and what kind of pitch count he will be on as the season progresses.

One day at a time, however. The first step is to make sure Charles gets through training camp without a hitch, and this will be one of his first big milestones.
