The Denver Broncos should look North for inspiration over injuries. The Calgary Stampeders are a stellar example for them to emulate.

The Denver Broncos have suffered many mishaps as training camp continues.

Their futility consists of several key injuries. Among those victimized include linebackers Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett along with tailback Devontae Booker.

Nevertheless, the Broncos have some inspiration to their north. This is the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

The Stampeders, also known as the “Stamps,” have a rich history dating back to 1945. This includes seven Grey Cup championships, the CFL’s equivalent of Super Bowl titles.

Both the Broncos and Stampeders are each located in the Mountain Time Zone. Both teams feature riders who take swift Arabians around the field after scores.

Incidentally, they both have suffered their fair share of injuries this summer.

However, Calgary, sporting a 4-1-1 record on the season routed the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 60-1 Saturday.

No, that score is not a misprint. Here is the box score if you want to see it yourself.

This was significant as star wideout Kamar Jorden, a key component of the Calgary offense, was out.

Marken Michel (6 receptions, 190 yards, TD) adeptly filled in as the Stampeders’ offense did not miss a beat.

That’s exactly what the Broncos must do with the injuries to their key players. They must find someone who can step up in a pinch.

As for Booker’s injury, the door is open for DeAngelo Henderson. Here’s what reputable Broncos ESPN writer Jeff Legwold had to say about him Monday.

Additionally, Jamaal Charles looks sharp in training camp with the reps he has had.

The injuries suffered by Ray and Barrett can be addressed by former Saints outside linebacker Kasim Edibali, a promising talent.

Other candidates the Broncos should be able to count on include Vontarrius Dora and Ken Ekanem. A chance also exists the Broncos may go the waiver wire route as well for help.

It would serve the Vance Joseph era well if the Broncos emulated the Stampeders amid their adversity.
