Former NFL executive and current ESPN analyst Bill Polian says rookie Chad Kelly is the most talented quarterback on the Denver Broncos’ roster…

Six-time NFL executive of the year Bill Polian, who is now working with ESPN after a Hall of Fame career, has dubbed Chad Kelly the most talented quarterback on the Denver Broncos’ roster.

Couple things:

1. No one in that room disagreed with him.

2. He’s not the first person to say this.

There’s no doubt Chad Kelly is a very talented football player. But is he more talented than first round pick Paxton Lynch? More talented than last year’s starting quarterback?

It would be interesting to hear Polian dive a little bit more into this. I have done extensive work on Kelly and for what it’s worth, I like him.

A lot.

Mike Mayock said that if it weren’t for Kelly’s medical and character concerns, he’d have been a first or second round pick.

There have been a number of others in Denver radio that have stated Kelly could wind up being the team’s eventual starter, perhaps even as early as 2018. I don’t know that we’ll see him on the field this year because of injuries, but who knows about next year?

Vance Joseph, the new head coach of the Broncos, called Kelly his favorite quarterback from this year’s draft.

I’m not a Chad Kelly truther by any means. There are plenty who don’t like him at all and for good reason. But I don’t think you could convince me that he was a seventh round pick on tape at Ole Miss for two seasons, after a horrendous start off the field to his collegiate career.

Personally, I would just like to see Kelly out on the field throwing and getting his feet wet that way. His reps this offseason have been all mental as far as Broncos organized practices go.

When he gets his shot, it’ll be fun to see what he does with it.
