Jamaal Charles Bringing Good Attitude To the Broncos
By Brad James
He’s only been with the Broncos 34 days, but already, tailback Jamaal Charles has infused Dove Valley with a good attitude.
If the Denver Broncos are to rise again in 2017, look to the good attitude of Jamaal Charles.
The Broncos picked up the former Texas and Kansas City Chiefs star May 2. Since then, he has brought a quixotic vibe to the franchise.
In thoughts shared by the Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala, Charles expressed his joy for being with the Broncos.
Charles has been everything the Broncos could have hoped for in the interim. If his swag can transition to the football field, the Broncos struck a gold mine.
Charles’ career-rushing average of 5.5 yards per carry only trails legendary tailback Marion Motley and quarterbacks Randall Cunningham and Michael Vick.
Furthermore, Charles also told Jhabvali that he grew up a Broncos fan. He idolized current general manager John Elway when he was a Hall of Fame quarterback.
Perhaps this explains why Charles, a native of Port Arthur, Texas, chose to play for the orange Texas Longhorns.
Should Charles live up to his comments Monday, the entire backfield will benefit. Incumbent backs Devontae Booker and C.J. Anderson would have someone else to share the load.
2017 6th round draft pick DeAngelo Henderson and veterans Bernard Pierce and Juwan Thompson should also benefit from his presence.
Meanwhile, Andy Janovich, a stud fullback, should enhance the backfield as well. After being fired by the Chargers, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is now a kid on Christmas morning.
Next: How does C.J. Anderson fare in the loaded backfield?
In any event, with a retooled offensive line, the Broncos’ moribund 2016 offense should rebound to its rightful place.
Charles has already made an impact with his attitude. If he can resemble who he was in his heyday in Kansas City, the Broncos’ offense should be a Top 10 NFL unit.
