The Denver Broncos’ key defender Shaq Barrett, will not need surgery after his hip injury. The Broncos got some good news…
The Denver Broncos dodged a bullet Wednesday. That’s always a good sign during OTA’s. While the hip injury sustained by linebacker Shaq Barrett has him out for 2-3 months, the Broncos got good news.
Broncos OLB Shaquil Barrett not expected to need surgery on injured hip, per league source.

As always, when the Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala provides information, it’s accurate.
The 6’1″ 251-pound Barrett is entering his fourth season out of Colorado State. Thus far, he has forced five fumbles and defensed six passes.
The Broncos are thin at outside linebacker. Therefore, the injury to Barrett is a cause of concern.
Some Broncos fans suggest bringing in a blast from the past.
This would be free agent Elvis Dumervil. Dumervil is primarily a defensive end but can play linebacker.
He starred with the Broncos (2006-2012) posting 63.5 sacks and 16 forced fumbles.

Because of a fax machine faux pas, Dumervil left the Broncos and starred with Baltimore as well. The Ravens have since released him, so perhaps a reunion can work wonders for the Broncos.
If nothing more, rest assured Broncos Country, that Barrett should be as good as new once he heals. The Broncos also got good news with receiver Demaryius Thomas coming back to practice Wednesday.
The 6’3″ 229-pound receiver out of Georgia Tech is headed into his 8th season. Thomas, with an opportunity to play for offensive coordinator Mike McCoy again, looks to excel.
In 2012, McCoy’s last year during his first stint in Denver, Thomas had then-career highs in receptions, yards and touchdowns.
Thus, Wednesday was a day of good news for the Broncos.
