As the first day of OTA’s kicked off for the Denver Broncos, the story-line was focused on Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch competing at Quarterback…

As the Denver Broncos showed up at Dove Valley for day one of OTAs, much of the sports world is watching the particular battle at quarterback.

Both Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch are working hard in the off-season with one thing to prove: that they can be the starting quarterback of the Broncos’ prestigious franchise. Within that realm, the pressure is on as the Broncos don’t have a guy like Peyton Manning anymore.

The Broncos named Sieimian as the starter during preseason last year. He played well for the first five weeks before injuring his left shoulder.

However, a portion of Broncos fans don’t believe that Trevor Siemian is the guy. The other portion seemingly doesn’t believe Paxton Lynch is the guy, either.

After OTA’s on Wednesday, Head Coach Vance Joseph divulged about the reps each player would have. Joseph indicated Siemian and Lynch both will have 5 days of reps with the 1st team.

Siemian received today’s first team reps with Lynch set to take first team reps tomorrow. This can help put some fans minds at ease who believe Lynch didn’t get the proper opportunity last season.

Both Quarterbacks had a solid start on Day 1 of OTAs.

"“It was OK. It was the first day, obviously. They both threw the ball well. They both commanded the huddle really today. So, it was a good day.”– Vance Joseph (Quotes obtained via Denver Broncos PR)"

Ideally both Quarterback’s need this type of experience. Competition brings out the best in everybody and certainly the quarterbacks will push one another going forward.

Denver Broncos QB Battle: Writer’s Thoughts

Paxton Lynch has held my praise since his time at Memphis, however I firmly believed that last season he would not have been ready to command a team coming off a Super Bowl victory as a rookie. The same can be said for Trevor Siemian.

Siemian sat a year behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler and sat inside the meeting rooms, he had more of an understanding of the offense than Lynch did. We have seen far too often in the NFL where teams throw a rookie onto the field when they aren’t ready and it kills their confidence.

Take a look at Blake Bortles for example: a very talented player who is struggling due to not having time to develop behind a veteran. I believe both Siemian and Lynch have the tools necessary to be good quarterbacks in this league, however fans need to stop dividing over one or the other.

Mike McCoy and Bill Musgrave have implemented a system that I believe will be beneficial to the quarterbacks strengths and the offenses needs. It gives the media more insight on how awesome training camp will be due to the battle at quarterback.
