The NFL Top 100 gauges NFL players thoughts on who is the best in the league, at 63 Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr. makes the list…

On Monday the NFL Network’s NFL Top 100 Players of 2017 listed Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr. at #63. While being honored at 63 is a nice accolade, Harris Jr. was ranked 52 last season. What changed?

The voting process is tricky based on a viewers perspective as Harris Jr. was voted one slot above Chargers CB Casey Hayward. Further down the list at 99 is Patriots “Cover 2” Cornerback Malcolm Butler.

Harris Jr.’s spot on the Top 100 this year indicates Logan Ryan, Richard Sherman, AJ Bouye, Patrick Peterson, and Marcus Peters may be ahead of him on the list.

While there is no secret that Harris Jr. is the NFL’s greatest underdog story, this year’s ranking is evident that the electric play-maker still is being slept on. Especially relevant, since 2012 Harris. Jr has been one of the NFL’s best corners.

Pro Football Focus broke down his overall yards per coverage snap which equated to 0.79. After that Richard Sherman sits at 0.84 with Harris being 0.18 more efficient than Josh Norman, Darrelle Revis, and Adam Jones.

Here’s the diagram that you can see for yourself.

It appears that the voting system overlooked Harris Jr.’s impressive numbers. According to Pro Football Focus, Harris led the NFL in defensive stops with 28.

At the CB position in the NFL, 28 stops as a DB is such a phenomenal stat. Having the ability to cover the inside slot receiver and the outside receiver makes Harris Jr. an elite talent as a result.

My belief is that Chris Harris Jr. should have been ranked higher. In a league that is so offensively driven, Harris Jr. incidentally destroys that narrative.

What are your thoughts Broncos Country? Let’s take a look at some reactions from Broncos fans on Twitter.

Even a Patriots fan believes that the ranking is wrong…

With all things considered, the voting system may have it’s flaws, but as a result Harris Jr.’s play on the field speaks for itself.
