The Denver Broncos interviewed Kyle Shanahan for their head coaching position on Saturday morning in Atlanta. What will happen next?

Kyle Shanahan has been a busy man this weekend, taking time from playoff preparations to interview with NFL teams about their head coach openings. On Saturday morning, the Denver Broncos spent a considerable amount of time with him, and John Elway updated all of us on Twitter:

None of this really comes as any sort of surprise to anyone, but Shanahan would obviously prefer the Denver Broncos’ coaching job over others. The Broncos are less than a year removed from winning the Super Bowl. They have a top defense and plenty of young talent to work with offensively, including two Pro Bowl caliber wide receivers.

The possibilities with Shanahan’s offensive philosophy in Denver are very, very exciting, but is he the right man for the job? That’s what the Broncos are trying to figure out as they approach one more interview, likely on Monday or Tuesday with Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

Joseph has been reported as the favorite to land the job in Denver, but that was prior to Elway and company meeting with Dave Toub or Kyle Shanahan. I can’t imagine they came away from those two interviews anything less than impressed.

Theoretically, hiring Shanahan would help fix the biggest weakness on this Denver team. It would also do little/nothing to change the stellar defensive unit, which should be getting a big boost this offseason along the defensive line in some form or fashion.

It seems so obvious to me that Shanahan should be the new head coach, but what do I know? I will just continue to report the news and feed you all my opinions about it.
