Denver Broncos edge rusher Shane Ray has had a nice sophomore campaign, and he absolutely destroyed Chiefs center Mitch Morse on Sunday night…

The Kansas City Chiefs ultimately had the last laugh on Sunday night, but the result of a full five-quarter game was overshadowed by the performance of a number of individual players for the Broncos, and here we’ll talk about edge rusher Shane Ray.

Ray notched his fifth sack of the season on Sunday, eclipsing his rookie total of four sacks. The Broncos have five games to play, so Ray has plenty of time to get that sack total up and into double digits in just his second year in the pros.

While the Broncos work DeMarcus Ware at a pitch count, they are working Ray into the lineup more and more. He’s rewarding them with very solid play, earning high marks from Pro Football Focus and doing things like destroying some of the best linemen in the league.

What’s that, you ask?

Oh, it’s nothing, just Shane Ray mauling Chiefs center Mitch Morse…

Not only does Ray knock Morse to the ground, he then gets up and helps his teammates complete a sack of Alex Smith. It’s an impressive individual effort, and part of the reason the Broncos thought highly enough of Ray in the first round of last year’s draft to trade up and get him.

They have been able to ease the former SEC defensive player of the year into the lineup, and their patience has paid off. Ray has become a key piece of the Denver defense, and though he is still very raw, he makes some jaw dropping plays like this that reassure you of his future.

It’s very bright, indeed.
