Denver Broncos: Should Clancy Barone be on the Hot Seat?

The one thing that was noticed in the Denver Broncos loss is the subpar performance of the offensive line. With how the line has performed, should the team look to replace Clancy Barone?

It has been the same song and dance for the past two to three seasons now. The Denver Broncos offensive line has been offensive at times. It appears as if the line coached by Clancy Barone was improved after impressive showings against Carolina and Indianapolis.

Could it be the injuries to Donald Stephenson and Virgil Green? Since Week 2, when both players got hurt with calf injuries, the Broncos offensive line has seemed off.

It was shown in Thursday’s loss that the offensive line still has work to do. C.J. Anderson and Devontae Booker could not find any running room until late and there were some costly penalties that nullified big plays.

Perhaps the biggest play that was called back was C.J. Anderson’s 20 yard touchdown reception that came back due to Russell Okung holding his blocking assignment.

It has been the same thing time and time again at various stages for the offensive line. I have seen blame placed at just about everywhere. But there is one positional coach that might want to change things up soon.

Some of us may not know a lot of the positional coaches, but offensive line coach Clancy Barone needs to make some adjustments soon, or he could be let go.

Would it make sense to place Clancy Barone on the hot seat or part ways?

When you really start to think about it, the offensive line has been one of the weaker points for the Broncos for the last couple seasons. Granted that line has dealt with injury after injury, it just seems like either the Bronocs cannot get the right pieces together or the coaching is off.

But it is the offensive line’s job to create running lanes for the backfield and to protect the quarterback. I have not seen that in quite some time.

Of course, the offensive line is not too horrible. Matt Paradis and Russell Okung have been solid and when placed at right guard, Michael Schofield has been decent.

The only reason I would bring up putting Clancy Barone on the hot seat is due to the lack of consistency from the offensive line. If a team cannot get a running game going or protect the quarterback, then what?

The Broncos have run into two games where they looked out of sync, but if the offensive line does not improve, that seat that Clancy Barone is on is going to get warmer every week.
