Once again, the Denver Broncos have placed their trust in second-year signal-caller Trevor Siemian to start against an NFC West foe in the preseason.

This announcement was made last Monday, less than 48 hours after he went 10 of 14 for 75 yards and an interception in a 31-24 loss to San Francisco.

His interception is glaring, no question, as 49ers safety Eric Reid read the route easily and returned the theft 42 yards for a score, which galvanized what had been a moribund San Francisco squad prior to that point.

Obviously, Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak sees something good in Siemian as he should because before that point in the game, he had engineered a 10-play 86-yard scoring drive, capped off by a 19-yard C.J. Anderson touchdown run.

In any event, Kubiak said he was uncertain who will get more reps behind Siemian between veteran Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch.

Many in Broncos Country are singing the praises of Lynch after his performance against San Francisco, which saw him complete 15 of 26 passes for 113 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

It does bear mentioning that most of this work was done against scrubs who will soon meet the blade of the Turk in subsequent days and the defenses in the preseason, NFL-wide, are generally vanilla.

To be blunt, we probably know about as much about Lynch as we did before the preseason began, hardly anything.

Still, things can change at the drop of a hat, but for the time being, it would appear Siemian is the Broncos’ quarterback of the present.

As far as the Rams are concerned, per the Los Angeles Times, it is expected that fifth-year veteran Case Keenum will get the start Saturday.

He is 10-12, for 111 yards and a touchdown in preseason victories against the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs.

Jeff Fisher said Keenum will likely get “three or four series” before turning the reins to rookie Jared Goff.

Most starters for the Rams are expected to play throughout the first half with the exception of tailback Todd Gurley

Rams DE Robert Quinn is scheduled to play for the first time this preseason since undergoing off-season back surgery.

As is customary, I now tell you, this is your game thread, so please use it accordingly. Should any Rams fans happen upon us, be nice and handle things the Broncos way. It’s always good to be kind to your neighbors because we all love football.
