Broncos QB Trevor Siemian To Start Against 49ers
By Tylor Walden
Coach Gary Kubiak has announced that second year quarterback Trevor Siemian will be starting in Saturday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Trevor Siemian is the longest tenured quarterback in the Denver Broncos organization. Now we will get to see how he does in his first start.
When Gary Kubiak met with the press on Thursday, he made it official that the 2015 seventh round quarterback from Northwestern will start in the Broncos second preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.
In his first preseason game, Trevor Siemian threw for 88 yards. He led the team to two field goal drives in the second quarter and did not commit a turnover.
We all in Broncos Country have been paying attention to the quarterback situation. And there have been a handful of analysis that have said that Trevor Siemian could indeed start for the Denver Broncos when they open the season against the Carolina Panthers.

I could see that happening if Siemian has a solid game. The plan for Kubiak is to have Siemian play for the first quarter and half of the second. Mark Sanchez will play the last half of the second quarter and the entire third quarter. Paxton Lynch will play the entire fourth quarter.
This game will also give Gary Kubiak a solid indication on who he believes should start for the team in the season opener going forward. If both Siemian and Sanchez perform well, I could see a situation where they wait until after the third preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams.
For now, it is the Trevor Siemian show. I am excited to see what he can do in his first NFL start. Granted it is a preseason game, it could show us if he deserves the No. 1 quarterback job for the Super Bowl defending champions.
In other news, Derek Wolfe and Von Miller will see some playing time on Saturday. Derek Wolfe sprained his ankle on Wednesday, but did not show any limping while at practice today.
For Von Miller, this will be his first preseason appearance of the 2016 season after sitting out the first game against the Chicago Bears.
