Brandon Marshall will now be a Denver Bronco for four more years. John Elway announced the team has signed the linebacker to a four-year $32 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. Marshall was as deserving of a extension as any player on the roster.

Early in Marshall’s career, he had trouble finding time on the field his first two years in the NFL. However, once Marshall found his role with the Broncos expand due to Danny Trevathan’s injury, Marshall never looked back. This contract proves the Broncos value Marshall more than they did Trevathan (signed a four-year $28 million dollar contract with the Bears this offseason) and as an integral part of the team’s defense for years to come.

Marshall, two weeks ago was optimistic a deal would get done.

“I’m very optimistic. I would really love for that to happen. Like I said before, they’ve treated me liked family here. When I was on practice squad, they didn’t treat me like I was on practice squad,” Marshall on his contract negotiations before he signed today.

In his time with Jacksonville, Marshall spent most of his time on the practice squad only appearing in five games. He sees this situation with the Broncos different than the Jaguars and it is shocking Jacksonville let him go.

“When I was in Jacksonville on practice squad, you knew you were on practice squad. They wouldn’t even let you come to the games on the sideline. It was crazy. From the whole organization’s standpoint—I haven’t been everywhere—but to me, it feels like it’s second to none. The President [and CEO], Joe Ellis, he’s very friendly. He comes to talk to us. He’s a good guy. I love it here. I think everybody has everybody’s best interest. We all want to win and I think we do it the right way,” Marshall addressing the Broncos as family and a second home.

Broncos next up will look to sign Miller and Sanders before Training Camp begins. Re-signing Marshall is a step in the right direction.
