Broncos Ring of Fame: Longtime Denver Broncos kicker Jason Elam shares his thoughts on his career and discovering that he will be a part of Broncos history forever.

While the Denver Broncos have been snubbed in the Hall of Fame discussion, there is no doubt that the franchise has had a lot of successful players in the long history of the Broncos. Jason Elam was one of those players.

Perhaps the most successful kicker in Broncos history, Jason Elam will be a part of Broncos history as he will be a part of the Ring of Fame Class of 2016. It is quite an accomplishment to see him be a part of this Ring of Fame class. And it is very deserving.

Elam had a 15 year career in the NFL, most of it with the Denver Broncos. During his time with the Broncos, he recorded 152 wins, which is only second to John Elway in history. Elam is also the all-time leading scorer in franchise history.

Joe Ellis praised Elam during the media meeting, saying that his induction is well deserved and how clutch of a kicker he was for the organization.

When Elam was asked about when he found out that he was going to be in the Broncos Ring of Fame, is was beyond humbled and flattered.

It’s a huge honor, probably the biggest individual honor I have ever received. To be able to go in with John Lynch and Simon Fletcher, two great former teammates and great people, it is an amazing deal.”

I don’t feel like I should be named with those people. To have that honor and to have that kind of appreciation from the selection committee and from the Broncos is incredible.”

Well Mr. Elam, we have to disagree there. He deserves this honor in more ways than one. I remember being a little one and watching him make kick after kick. Including the game winning kicks against the Steelers, Bills, Raiders, and others.

Of course, the one kick I will never forget is the 63-yarder against the Jaguars in 1998. It was the first full season that I started watching football and it was a kick to remember.

When Jason Elam was asked about his career, he joked around a bit but got the chance to reflect on it.

Everybody knows of all the kicker jokes but I always tried to be a good teammate. I want to be someone that can be counted on while on and off the field. But I also wanted to encourage the guys and let them know I was in their corner”

Well Jason Elam, you had quite a career and I would say that you encouraged your teammates and were a reliable teammate for years. Hopefully the next stop is Canton. But congrats on being a part of a great part of Denver Broncos history.
