2016 NFL Draft: If the Denver Broncos want to take a quarterback with their top pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Paxton Lynch & Connor Cook are falling…

Well, if John Elway and the Denver Broncos want a quarterback with their top pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, both Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook are falling down the board. Not that Cook was expected to ‘rise’ or anything, but As the Broncos await the 31st overall selection, players are falling into their laps that they likely didn’t expect.

That could include Paxton Lynch.

As of the writing of this post, The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets were on the clock waiting to make their picks.

The Broncos are of course in the market for a quarterback, and with both Cook and Lynch still on the board, their decision might be a little bit easier. Of course, they are also staring some prominent defensive players right in the eye, but it would appear as though the safety position is out of question.

Both Karl Joseph and Keanu Neal, who were projected as late first rounders, have been selected by the Raiders and Falcons respectively.

The Bills just selected Clemson’s Shaq Lawson, taking another defensive player off the board and leaving the quarterbacks for the taking.

I could see that playing out for the Broncos, to be honest. I know many want the QB situation resolved as soon as possible, but the Broncos don’t appear to be in any hurry. That could change if they catch wind of a team like the Browns and Cowboys or possibly the 49ers moving back into the 1st round  to get someone.

That would be the only thing that stands in the way of the Broncos getting the QB of their choice in the 1st round, but again, it would slightly shock me to see them pass on a top defensive player. Myles Jack — at the time of this writing  — is still available. Stay tuned.
