Denver Broncos CJ Anderson Ready to Carry the Load

The Denver Broncos put an end to the New England Patriots unbeaten streak Sunday night. Brock Osweiler out dueled Tom Brady in a big time matchup. The defense stepped up and made some great plays at the end of the game. All that being said, it was CJ Anderson who carried this team to victory.

Maybe it was the snow that gave Anderson the advantage, but he was able to rumble through tackles on his way to 113 yards and two touchdowns. That last touchdown gave the Broncos a huge win. Every time he carried the ball it felt like he was capable of finding the end zone.

On a night when there were stars on the team that looked lethargic and lost for most of the game, Anderson was the spark that kept the offense rolling. You want to talk about kicking and screaming? CJ Anderson defined that, and then some. This has not been the easiest of seasons for the Denver Broncos running game, and Anderson has been at the center of that. Sunday night against the Patriots may be the turnaround that everyone needed.

The talk is always about finding the guy to replace Peyton Manning, but what Kubiak really wants is a guy who can run like Terrell Davis.

Anderson and Ronnie Hillman both laid the ground work that gave Osweiler the room he needed to throw the football. It was exactly what Gary Kubiak is trying to accomplish with the offense. The talk is always about finding the guy to replace Peyton Manning, but what Kubiak really wants is a guy who can run like Terrell Davis.

I am not saying Anderson is TD, but there were times against New England’s defense that he looked like him. A hallmark of Davis’s running style was to never go backwards. Every time he got hit he fell forward for an extra two yards. Anderson was doing that consistently. He was one cut and gone, and his momentum almost always gave him that extra yard or two.

  • It is way too early to start anointing guys the next great thing, but life in Broncos Country has become a lot more interesting. I’m uncertain what needs to be done at quarterback, although Brock has made a strong case for the starting job, but I am dead sure that CJ Anderson has to be the guy to carry the load the rest of the way.
