Denver Broncos Need Win Against Chiefs

Things are not going to be easy for the Denver Broncos from here on out. The game against the Colts last week was such a mental debacle for the defense, that a bounce back win against Kansas City seems imperative to the success of the season. And now the team is dealing with injuries to two future Hall of Famers, and one of Broncos Country’s favorites.

More from Broncos News

Peyton Manning, DeMarcus Ware, and Emmanuel Sanders have all found themselves on the injury report. Ware is out, and Sanders is questionable, which makes the task of defeating an under-achieving Chiefs team that much more difficult. With the news of Manning’s injuries, visions of 2014 may have started dancing in the heads of Bronco fans.

The Colts game was the ultimate trap game. The loss was not that hard to predict, as Manning made another return to Indy, but the way it happened was what was so surprising. To see that defense lose its composure in the final moments, costing Manning a chance at a last-minute drive was devastating. Now, along with the injuries that Denver will have to deal with, the Broncos will also have to replace Aqib Talib, who inexplicably turned into one of the Three Stooges. As he went, “Larry, Moe, and Curly,” on Dwayne Allen, the chance at a comeback evaporated.

As he went, “Larry, Moe, and Curly,” on Dwayne Allen, the chance at a comeback evaporated.

Worst of all, he didn’t just hurt the team against Indianapolis, he hurt the team this week by getting himself suspended. We love Talib, and we forgive him his transgression here. However, beating the Chiefs is important for sending a message to the league. The Colts game was just a slip, and nothing to be concerned about. That being said, getting this victory keeps getting more and more difficult.

The obstacles that face Denver against the Chiefs keep adding up. Injuries and suspensions are always a concern. Of course, after last week’s collapse of composure, the biggest concern shift to worries about the Broncos being able to stay cool under pressure. The defense had been the savior all season. Heading into the Chiefs game, for the first time all year, they are a question mark.

  • They should win this game. Denver is simply a better team than Kansas City. Even with the injuries, the Broncos have more talent, are better coached, and are just superior on the field. As long as they can keep their heads, Broncos Country should come out feeling pretty good. As long as they can keep their heads.
