The Denver Broncos made some difficult decisions today in regards to their 53-man roster. Now with the players in tact, teams can start looking at those that were waived on Saturday and put in a waiver claim for them.

One player that was cut from the team is Joseph Fauria. A tight end released by the Detroit Lions, the Broncos could use a player like him. The team right now is at two tight ends and James Casey is the full back/tight end hybrid.

Even though John Elway and Gary Kubiak made it known that they were okay with two tight ends, I would still give this guy a look. Joseph Fauria could be a great red zone target as long as he stays healthy.

During his rookie campaign, Joseph Fauria only recorded 18 receptions. However, seven of them resulted in touchdowns, including a three reception, three touchdown performance in a 2013 Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Joseph Fauria struggled with injuries during his sophomore campaign in 2014 and only recorded six receptions during the seven games that he played. So his health will be the biggest factor in John Elway’s decision, should he make it.

Another reason why Joseph Fauria would be an excellent pick up for the Denver Broncos is the age factor. He has yet to reach his prime, and having someone like Owen Daniels to teach him the offense and work on some weaknesses that he has would be ideal.

His quickness and abilities to be a huge red zone target would help the Broncos offense. However, his run blocking is something that worries me, but having a coach like Gary Kubiak could potentially change that and allow him to unlock more potential.

The next few hours will be interesting. The Broncos can begin to sign players to their practice squad on Sunday afternoon. But before then, it would be worth a try to put in a claim for Joesph Fauria. Having a solid red zone target could be what puts the Denver Broncos over the top.
