When it comes to a Gary Kubiak-led team, one thing is for certain. If you are a player that can learn more than one position on the football field, you have a higher chance at making the roster. For sixth round draft pick Darius Kilgo, he knows that he has to be versatile on the defensive side of the football if he wants to see playing time during the 2015 season.

The rookie out of the University of Maryland was drafted by the Broncos in the sixth round in this year’s NFL Draft. With the defensive line position thin, Darius Kilgo was drafted to compete with Sylvester Williams and Marvin Austin for the starting job. It appears as if Sylvester Williams might beat both of them out for the starting job, so Darius Kilgo knows that he will have to be a versatile defensive player to have a shot at the 53-man roster.

Darius Kilgo has worked hard to get himself ready for training camp. He spent most of the five weeks after organized team activities and mini camp working out and getting in shape for the preseason. I am very interested to see how he does during the dog days of summer and the two-a-days that come with training camp.

Most predict him to be a member of the practice squad, but if he can learn all the positions of the defensive line and perform them well, I would not be surprised at the least if he earns a spot on the final roster. With a suspension to Derek Wolfe and the Antonio Smith case still up in the air, this is a perfect chance for Darius Kilgo to shine and prove that he can be a solid contributor to the Broncos defense.

While Darius Kilgo is not even concerned about the misfortunes of the two players mentioned above, his main focus is doing the best that he can to help out the team. No matter what that maybe in the near future, Darius Kilgo wants to be ready at moment’s notice. And something tells me that he will be ready.
