The search for Terrance Knighton’s replacement continues on. While there are various amount of prospects that could fit the bill, there is one prospect from Auburn University that is flying under the radar who visited Dove Valley.

Mike Klis of The Denver Post has reported that Angelo Blackson has met with the Broncos organization today as part of the 30 pre-draft visits the Denver Broncos are allowed to have. Klis points out that Angelo Blackson is like “A Pot Roast that can run.” I would have to agree with that statement. During his pro day, Angelo Blackson recorded 40-yard times north and south of five seconds. That is quite fast for a defensive tackle and something that Wade Phillips would like to have for his defense.

While we are on the subject on Angleo Blackson, let us take a look at what he brings to the table as far as his measurements and skill set.

The size of Angelo Blackson gives him such a huge advantage over the average offensive lineman. He can use that to push them into the pocket and disrupt the quarterback. And if you think you can double team him, think again. His skill with that size allows him to easily get past the double team and get to the ball carrier. His ability to become double teamed could also benefit the other teammates as they can get around it.

Angelo Blackson is also lighter than Terrance Knighton, so having a player who can perform like Knighton did as a faster and slimmer player could benefit a defense that Wade Phillips would like the defense to be faster.

While the Broncos might have players like Marvin Austin and Sylvester Williams on the roster, it would not hurt to draft another defensive tackle for the roster. Especially one who has speed. He has not gotten a whole lot of looks from draft prospects because of his limited time on the college gridiron. (started only five games in 2014) But if a team is looking to take a chance on him, he could be a special player. The Broncos have quite an interesting day three prospect in Angelo Blackson.
