**UPDATE**

Per a report from Troy Renck of the Denver Post, Bibbs has indeed returned to the Broncos’ practice squad.

It’s not often that practice squad players command a lot of attention from the fans, but Kapri Bibbs is a rare case of a ‘hometown’ player having flourished with the Colorado State Rams in 2013, leading the NCAA with 31 touchdown runs. Bibbs originally latched on with the team as an undrafted free agent, and was signed to the active roster a few weeks ago when the Buffalo Bills were rumored to be snooping around, trying to snatch him off of Denver’s practice squad. He was never activated for a game, and the Broncos decided this past weekend they would rather have the experience of Jeremy Stewart as the emergency running back and special teams player than Bibbs on the active roster after playing keep-away with the rest of the league. Lucky for Denver, Bibbs went through waivers unclaimed. Not so lucky for them, he decided to pursue some other opportunities while having the opportunity on the table to return to the Broncos as a member of the practice squad. It was reported by the Denver Post that Bibbs was working out for the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, but the Cardinals went in a different direction.

The Cardinals opted for the veteran Bush instead of the younger Bibbs, who now is free to return back to the Denver Broncos’ practice squad, where he can continue to develop. The Broncos are a great spot for Bibbs, but it would have been foolish of him not to pursue an opportunity to be on a team’s 53-man roster if he was able. That’s every player’s dream, and you never know when you’ll get your last chance.

For the fans, selfishly we want the Broncos to be able to keep all of these players in one way or another, but it’s not surprising when other teams want what the Broncos have. They are a deep team, full of talent. Bibbs is no exception to that, but hopefully now that the Cardinals have moved in a different direction, he can return to work in Denver and continue building his way to a more stable roster spot at some point in the future.
