Julius Thomas is emerging as an up and coming star in the league today.

He has already accumulated four touchdown receptions in the last two games, almost halfway there from his total amount from the 2013 season. He is without a single doubt one of the most valuable players on the offense. Julius Thomas might be even more involved in the game plan for the next game.

The Broncos travel to the northwest for perhaps one of the most anticipated games of the season when they play the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl 48 rematch. The Seahawks are coming off of their first loss of the season to none other than the Broncos’ division rivals the San Diego Chargers.  There is no doubt that the Broncos will be preparing for the best possible way to hand the Seahawks their second loss of the season.

So, where does Julius Thomas come into play? I believe he will be the key player in this game because of what the Chargers were able to do with Antonio Gates. The Legion of Boom defense had a difficult time covering Gates as he was able to haul in three touchdown passes. It also seemed that Gates easily beat whomever was covering him. Julius Thomas and Antonio Gates are about the same height and are both excellent at their position. If the Seahawks had trouble covering Antonio Gates, then that should be the case in this week’s game if the Broncos use Julius Thomas to their advantage.

The Legion of Boom defense also tries to prevent the big play, so the Broncos will have to rely on the short passing game and running the football in order to wear this defense down. Julius Thomas is a solid option in the open field and on short passes because he has that ability to accumulate yards after the catch. Not to mention he is a great option when it comes to third and short.

What I have noticed in the last two games is that the Broncos are using a lot of two tight end sets, which could be helpful in this weekend’s match up. While Julius Thomas will be the game changer, do not be surprised if the Broncos utilize Jacob Tamme and Virgil Green in the game plan as well. We all know Tamme is Peyton Manning’s longtime teammate who also has an ability to make a big play.

If there is any chance for Julius Thomas to have one of the best games of his career, the Seahawks might be the best time for him to have that next breakout game. With his breakout 2013 campaign behind him, it is a chance to show that he is not a one year wonder and that he has a bright future ahead of him.
