With the departure of Knowshon Moreno, it was expected the Denver Broncos might have a question mark or two surrounding the ability of their young stable of running backs to hold down the fort.

So far in the preseason, those questions have been answered, at least for the most part.

Even with a young stable of backs in a Peyton Manning offense, the Broncos felt confident in their scouting and drafting over the last three years that they thought Ronnie Hillman being the elder statesman in this crew would work out just fine. It was a risky move, but the Broncos have a certain swagger to their running backs position this year. Not necessarily anything that wasn’t there last year, but different players are stepping up.

I want to take a look at some progress reports for the top five running backs on the Broncos’ depth chart, and what may come as we progress toward the season.
