18 is the new #1. After weeks of  listing the top 100 players of 2014, the NFL Network revealed, in a two hour special on Wednesday night, what we Broncoholics already knew: Denver Broncos’ quarterback extraordinaire, Peyton Manning is #1. PFM had won almost every conceivable award and accolade one could think of…except being voted #1 on the NFL’s Top 100. Well cross that one off the list as well. In a vote of his peers, Manning topped a list which may mean more than lists and awards voted on by sports writers. There are a lot of great players in the league and maybe even some who in other years one could make an argument for #1. However, after a record-breaking 2013 season – which saw Peyton break single season records for yards (5477) and touchdowns (55) – only one man made sense to top the list.

Detroit Lions WR, Calvin Johnson, New England Patriots’ QB, Tom Brady, Minnesote Vikings’ RB, Adrian Peterson, and Philadelphia Eagles’ RB, LeShawn McCoy round out the top five. The NFL’s Top 100 of 2014 (5-1)  is being replayed on NFL Network at 2-3 A.M., 5-6 A.M. EST, and at various time through the day. Check your local listings…and congratulations to Peyton “Freakin” Manning!
