The Denver Broncos open training camp in just a couple of weeks, so it’s time to start looking at some potential breakout players for the up-coming season.

Last year, we saw breakthrough years for players like Julius Thomas and Terrance Knighton, and this year will provide another year for some breakouts, especially since the Broncos had some big names leave in free agency. Here are five players I think will break out in Denver in 2014.

Montee Ball

Running Back, 2nd season

Montee Ball has a chance to become a top 10 statistical running back in the NFL this season. Last year, Knowshon Moreno plowed his way to just over 1,000 yards, 10 touchdowns rushing, 60 catches, and another three scores through receptions. Moreno proved that in this Broncos’ offense, he could be productive. Now, with Knowshon in South Beach, second year back Montee Ball has a chance to be one of the biggest breakout players in the NFL. Ball’s skill set is much more dynamic than Moreno’s athletically, in my opinion. The jury is obviously still out, but Ball is a much more mature runner than Moreno was coming in. He has better discipline, vision, and ability to accelerate upfield. Moreno was a grinder for the Broncos, and one of the best and most effective third down backs in the league. I think Ball provides more than him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ball go for 1,200 yards or more with double digit TDs and 40-50 catches.
