Broncos, past and present, will be hitting the links in mid-July for the 25th American Century Championship

Since I am a Denver Bronco fan, as well as a fan of golf, part of my normal summer routine is to follow the American Century Championship Golf Tournament, specifically the individuals with Bronco ties, whether current or past, who play in the golf tournament. This year the tournament, which is in its 25th year, will take place from July 18-20 in Lake Tahoe, NV. Please continue reading to find out which “Broncos” will be participating.

Notable Broncos scheduled to appear this year are current Britton Colquitt, Terrell Davis, John Elway, John Fox, and John Lynch. While Colquitt and Davis are making their first appearance in the tournament, John Elway is making his 25th appearance. Elway is one of only four players who has played in all 24 American Century Championship Golf Tournaments. The other three individuals who have played every year in the tournament are USA hockey player Mike Eruzione, former Chicago Bear quarterback Jim McMahon, and actor/singer Jack Wagner. During that 24-year stretch, Elway has finished in the top ten eleven times. His best finishes came in 1999 and 2010 when he was runner-up and a third-place finish is 2013.

The 25th American Century Celebrity Golf Championship is a 54-hole modified Stableford format and features many professional athletes, both currently playing and retired, as well as celebrities from the entertainment world. For a complete list of individuals who will be participating, click here.

The first round (Friday, July 18) will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network from 4-7pm ET, while rounds two and three (Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20) will be televised on NBC from noon-3pm ET.
