Broncos Players Change Jersey Numbers

With all the shuffling of players and new additions, many Broncos are changing what number they’ll be wearing in 2014.

Changes
Duke Ihenacho from 33 to 27
Terrance Knighton from 94 to 98
Ronnie Hillman from 21 to 23
Sione Fua from 98 to 91
John Boyett from 43 to 20
Lerentee McCray from 47 to 55
John Youboty from 49 to 90
Gerrell Robinson from 10 to 89

New Jersey Assignments
DeMarcus Ware - 94
Emmanuel Sanders - 10
Aqib Talib - 21
T.J. Ward - 43
Will Montgomery - 64
Cameron Morrah - 86
Jameson Konz - 82
Jerrell Harris - 52
Jamar Chaney - 51
L.J. Fort will – 50
Eric Hagg will – 37
Jerodis Williams - 33
Ryan Miller - 73
Jerome Murphy - 45
Charles Mitchell - 29
Jordan Norwood - 11
Ramon Harewood - 69

Some interesting things to note here:

  • Duke Ihenacho took the number 27, which was previously worn by Knowshon Moreno. Moreno had asked permission out of courtesy to Darrent Williams’ family to wear the number.
  • Ronnie Hillman took over the number 23, which was vacated by Quentin Jammer. It’s Hillman’s third number change since being drafted.
  • Gerrell Williams switching to number 89 seems to be a positive indicator of his alleged move to the tight end position.
  • Lerentee McCray, who was on his way to making the team last year before a season-ending injury, now has a real linebacker’s number. Really pulling for him this season.
  • Athletic reserve/future signee Jameson Konz will wear #82, indicating he’ll be playing offense. He was tried at a number of positions with other teams.
  • Safety John Boyett will be handing over the number 43 to T.J. Ward, and going back to his college number, 20.
