Some interesting things to note here:
- Duke Ihenacho took the number 27, which was previously worn by Knowshon Moreno. Moreno had asked permission out of courtesy to Darrent Williams’ family to wear the number.
- Ronnie Hillman took over the number 23, which was vacated by Quentin Jammer. It’s Hillman’s third number change since being drafted.
- Gerrell Williams switching to number 89 seems to be a positive indicator of his alleged move to the tight end position.
- Lerentee McCray, who was on his way to making the team last year before a season-ending injury, now has a real linebacker’s number. Really pulling for him this season.
- Athletic reserve/future signee Jameson Konz will wear #82, indicating he’ll be playing offense. He was tried at a number of positions with other teams.
- Safety John Boyett will be handing over the number 43 to T.J. Ward, and going back to his college number, 20.
