After a week of practices, the Denver Broncos will make their way to New York/New Jersey for Super Bowl week on Sunday, and when we see them out there for media appearances I think reality will truly set in.

I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve been proudly rocking that orange and blue all week this week, letting this all set in and trying to convince myself of the fact that the Denver Broncos are back in the Super Bowl.

Normally at this time of year, I’m trying to figure out what prospects the Broncos are going to be taking from the crop of players at the Senior Bowl. I remember just three short years ago watching Von Miller play in that game, and hoping the Broncos took him with the #2 overall pick.

Can you believe how far removed from THAT we are?!

Like I said, no matter how hard I’ve tried to convince myself, it just hasn’t sunk in that the Broncos are in the Super Bowl yet. Maybe it’s just the pure bliss of having a game left, and having the week off that has me unprepared mentally, or simply the fact that I’ve never experienced it in my adult life.

I have been listening to the sports talk shows on local and national radio, and I’ve been watching NFL Network and Sports Center and I see and hear all these people picking the Seahawks, still doubting the Broncos. I have had plenty of people tell me how ‘defense wins championships’ and how the Broncos are going to lose next Sunday.

It’s the same people who told me they thought we would lose to San Diego, and then to New England.

Regardless of the circumstance, all any of us Bronco fans could have ever asked for was a shot. We got one. The Seattle Seahawks are a very good, very young football team with a lot of talent across the board. Both teams are entering this game with all their guys (not on IR, at least) healthy.

This is a great matchup, but I’m sick of people talking about the weather as an excuse to pick against Peyton Manning. This is Denver’s year.

So yeah, the team is traveling to New York on Sunday.
