Denver Broncos Practice in Cold, Welker Limited

In terms of Denver Broncos football, it was the perfect weather day in Colorado. Perfect for practicing in playoff weather that is.

Temperatures were well below freezing as the Broncos practiced Thursday. With a predicted high of 29 degrees in Foxborough on Sunday, perhaps this day is as valuable as any page in the team’s game plan for this week.

“We got a lot done,” Jack Del Rio said of practicing in the snow. “In fact, we did it all. We did what we would normally do.”

“I was glad it was cold just because we know what to expect on Sunday,” offensive coordinator Adam Gase added. “For us to have to go through our normal routine, get loosened up, get out there and get the blood flowing in that kind of weather, it’s really helpful for us.”

Returning to the practice field after taking Wednesday off were Peyton Manning (full), Wes Welker (limited), and Julius Thomas (limited).

That’s right. Welker was out there and after practice he said that he felt good. He’s just waiting for doctor’s to give him full clearance for Sunday.

Welker also spoke of his relationship with Tom Brady.

“I stay in contact with Tom,” Welker said. “Not this week. This week, we’re pretty much enemies (laughing) but no, we’re really tight and close. I wish the best for him—just not this week.”
