If you ask Jon Gruden, there wasn’t a better player in the NFL last week than Knowshon Moreno of the Denver Broncos.

Okay, I kid, I kid. Despite Gruden’s lack of factual information, he was right about one thing–Moreno was on top of his game against the New York Giants on Sunday, and thus, he has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award, competing against James Starks and Marshawn Lynch.

Moreno only had five less yards than Lynch, and actually finished with the same number (2) of touchdowns. Neither player racked up the yards like James Starks, but Starks only had one touchdown.

Moreno also picked up a fumble by Demaryius Thomas on a key play for the Broncos and threw a block on a play that was called back. Moreno also made a big impact on the passing game, coming up huge for the Broncos in pass protection and also catching three passes.

The former first round pick out of Georgia has showed up of late for the Broncos, and when he’s been healthy over the last year, he’s easily been the Broncos’ best and most complete back.

Prior to being nominated for the FedEx award, Moreno had already come home with a “Gruden Grinder” for his week two performance.
