Five Touchdown Returns In 14 Games for Broncos’ Trindon Holliday

The only Denver Bronco to have more returns for a touchdown than Trindon Holliday is Rick Upchurch, and he played for the Broncos from ’75-’83.

In less than one full season with the team, Holliday has five returns (two kick returns and three punt returns) that have gone for touchdowns. He needs just three more to tie Upchurch, and he could easily do it this season.

Holliday’s first touchdown return of 2013 came off an 81-yard punt return against the New York Giants. The Broncos were up 31-16 early in the fourth quarter, and then Holiday’s return made any hopes of a comeback completely disappear.

“Every time I get the ball in my hands I just try to make a play for my team,” Holliday said after the Broncos’ 41-23 win.

A simple statement from a guy that makes the return game look easy….sometimes.

On the opening kickoff, Holliday bobbled the ball, but then scooped it up and ran 19 yards (An illegal penalty on Jacob Tamme moved the ball back to the 12-yard line, however).

Every time the ball is in the air and Holliday is back, a huge sigh of relief is heard once he has it in his possession. He’s muffed it too many times for comfort. However, he’s scored too many times to not put him back there.

Holliday can make hearts beat faster than almost anyone else in the league. It’s fitting for the smallest guy on the team, who must play with the biggest heart.
