Ryan Lilja Ready for Role with Broncos

The Denver Broncos newly signed center, Ryan Lilja, met with the media for the first time Thursday evening.

The team coaxed him out of retirement after the ACL tear to Dan Koppen. When asked how hard it was for the Broncos to get him back to the field, Lilja laughed.

“Not that hard, not that hard. It only took a day of mulling it over and talking with my wife…Twenty-four hours later I was on a flight, so here I am.”

Lilja said that Peyton Manning had a big influence on his decision.

“I picture being in the huddle and that’s a cool placed to be,” Lilja said.

Even though Lilja has ten years of experience in the league, he has just 15 games at center. Lilja said that no one has told him where he’s going to play. Either at center or guard, Lilja said that his head was spinning with the playbook.

“It’s just the tip of the iceberg if you can call it that.”
