The Denver Broncos got back to work Wednesday after a quick 24 hours off. Tuesday was their first break since camp started last week.

The bad news came in the form of another injury. The good news was that it could have been a lot worse. Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was carted off the practice field with a leg injury. After images were done, it was concluded that DRC suffered a high ankle sprain.

“He has done it before, so I am not overly concerned,” John Fox said after practice. “But any time a player misses time I am concerned. We will just get him healthy and get him back out there.”

Champ Bailey was just glad that it wasn’t a knee injury.

“You don’t really want to hear anything, but for a corner you don’t want to mess up your knees,” Bailey said.

Chris Harris will fill in for DRC, which is what happened when Tracy Porter was out (illness) last year.

“You know I’m always ready,” Harris said. “I’m going to make plays if I’m at the nickel or at corner, so it doesn’t really matter to me.”

Harris had been covering Wes Welker a lot in the slot in practice.

“I know if we’re able to do well against each other, I think we’re going to be alright throughout the year and things like that,” Welker said. “So it’s been good battling with him out there.”

The Broncos hit the field again Thursday from 8:50-11:30 a.m.
