In the ever-chaging world of the NFL, the really good teams always have a back up plan. Look no further than the San Francisco 49ers when Alex Smith got hurt last season. He was replaced by Colin Kaepernick, who ended up taking over as the starting quarterback and leading the team to the Super Bowl.
The Denver Broncos are coming up with their back up plan if Elvis Dumervil decides to sign with the Baltimore Ravens or with another team. The Broncos have an offer out to Dumervil, but he appears to be seeing if the grass is greener. The Broncos are bringing in Dwight Freeney and John Abraham this week for visits. Freeney is visiting Denver Wednesday night, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder while Abraham is visiting on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Freeney only had five sacks last season, but he had 10.5 in 2010. He didn’t thrive in Chuck Pagano’s defense. Abraham had 10 sacks in 16 games last season.
