If you’re a Broncos fan, don’t mistake lack of communication for lack of activity.
The Broncos appear to be dipping their toes into the free agent market trying to find a possible replacement for defensive end Elvis Dumervil. They’ve been seeing if they can sign the likes of John Abraham, Dwight Freeney, Osi Umenyiora, or Cliff Avril for less money than Dumervil is willing to take.
Dumervil wants to stay with the Broncos according to his agent, Marty Magid.
The Broncos need to take action before Saturday, which is when Dumervil’s $12 million becomes guaranteed. Dumervil is scheduled to make $10 million in 2014 and $8 million in 2015.
He had 14 sacks last season.
The Broncos can officially sign someone else Tuesday, which is when free agency begins.
