It’s a dreary title, but for the second year in a row, Tim Tebow was voted the most overrated player in the NFL by his peers.
Sports Illustrated conducted the poll, and Tebow got 34% of the vote compared to 22% last year.
In second place comes Tebow’s teammate, Mark Sanchez, and Tony Romo with 8% of the vote. After that, it’s Michael Vick and Ray Lewis with 4% and 3% of the vote, respectively.
The sample size was 180 players.
I’m sure part of the reason why Tebow and Sanchez made the overrated list is because they are employed by the overhyped Jets. Tebow making the list is no surprise. He’s a very popular personality in the largest media market in the country, but in a backup QB role. Sanchez isn’t overrated. He’s just a mediocre QB.
I would love to see a larger sample size next year.
