The Denver Broncos are averaging just 18.9 yards per kickoff and 7.4 yards per punt. That’s why on Thursday the team claimed former Houston Texans return man and wide receiver Trindon Holliday off the waiver wires.
Holliday was released by the Texans Wednesday after averaging 19.4 yards per kick return and 9.2 yards per punt return. Don’t let those numbers or Holliday’s size (5’5″, 169 pounds) deceive you. He once scored three touchdowns off of returns in a preseason game, which hasn’t been done in at least 20 years.
The Broncos have been using Omar Bolden on kick returns and Jim Leonhard on punt returns.
The Broncos lost one of their return men last year when Eddie Royal went to the San Diego Chargers.
This is Holliday’s second NFL season out of LSU.
