Champ Bailey is the most frank speaker on the Denver Broncos roster, and he spoke to the media Thursday about last season’s playoff loss to the New England Patriots.
“I didn’t feel like there was 53 guys that thought we could win and it showed,” Bailey said.
The Broncos took a huge 35-point loss in a game where the storyline could be written during halftime.
“It’s really not the loss that disappointed me more than just the effort, and how they out played us because they weren’t that much better than us that they could beat us like that so that’s what was really disappointing,” Bailey said.
This season there are new players, a new defensive coordinator, and a new mentality that encompasses the team.
“I think last year it was pretty obvious we didn’t put our best effort in the last game. It was real disappointing to get that fat and not put forth 1000%, but it is what it is. It’s in the past and this is a different year, different breed of guys going in there.”
The Broncos hold a 25-17 advantage over the Patriots all-time in the regular season.
