The Denver Broncos originally thought that they were going to be facing the Pittsburgh Steelers without team leading rusher Rashard Mendenhall, but it appears likely that he will in fact play Sunday night.
Mendenhall tore his ACL last season and no one gave him much of a shot of being ready for the season opener. However, Mendenhall participated fully in practice on Monday and Wednesday sans knee brace.
Mendenhall rushed for 928 yards and 9 touchdowns last season before the injury. He had surgery in January to repair the ligament.
If nothing else, the Steelers just want the Broncos to spend time preparing for him.
