The Denver Broncos took to the practice field with one goal in mind Monday: Beat Pittsburgh.
Preparations for Sunday night’s showdown are underway, and the good news is the team is doing it with pretty much a full roster. The only guy that sat out of practice was Chris Kuper, but that’s expected as he heals from a broken forearm. Not a lot of teams can say that they’re injury free, but the Broncos are close to it.
To begin the work week, the Broncos voted on team captains. The results will be announced by John Fox on Wednesday.
As for how the Broncos are taking this week, Fox explains that a strong start is vital.
“It’s like any race,” Fox said. “How you come out of the starting blocks is important.”
Of course, the Broncos battle the Steelers in Denver to kick things off, and the last time these two teams met, the Broncos ended the Steelers season in overtime in the wildcard round of the playoffs.
So does the familiarity from last season’s game change the way the Broncos will prepare this week?
“Not really because I mean the familiarity works both ways,” Fox said. “I’m sure they’re studying our tape just like we’re studying theirs.”
Week one is upon us.
