Perhaps the biggest surprise that came out of Denver Broncos cut day is that veteran cornerback Drayton Florence was released. Florence was signed to a two-year, $4.5 million contract, but he had just 5 tackles in preseason, and it became clear that Chris Harris was the better man for the job.
It appears that Florence could be headed to the Detroit Lions.
The Detroit Lions are still in the market for cornerback help, and they may have found their man in Drayton Florence.
Lions receiver Kassim Osgood caused a minor stir on Twitter todaywhen he sent out a welcome message to Florence, his former teammate with the San Diego Chargers.
“We would like to welcome Drayton Florence to the Lions!” Osgood wrote. – Dave Birkett (Detroit Free Press)
Florence is expected in Detroit to undergo a physical.
Other former Broncos who were claimed off the waiver wire were tackle Ryan Harris who signed with the Houston Texans, safety Rafael Bush who signed with the New Orleans Saints, and quarterback Adam Weber who signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
