Expect Traffic Chaos Around Denver For Sunday’s Preseason Game

Fans attending Sunday's preseason game versus the San Francisco 49ers should make arraignments to arrive early due to multiple events in Denver (Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE)

Denver Broncos fans who plan on attending the game versus the San Francisco 49ers: expect extremely heavy traffic.

Aside from the usual gameday congestion, construction on I-25 at Santa Fe and Colfax, ticket holders will have the additional challenge of navigating an army of cycling fans watching the USA Pro Challenge.  Last year’s total for the final stage was around 250,000.  The race begins at 1 p.m. and should be over by 3:45, but expect any downtown routes to the stadium to be packed along with additional traffic from people trying to access both events.

Your best plan of action: arrive at Sports Authority Field at Mile High very early!
