Huge Crowd Packs First Day Of Broncos Training Camp

Excited for football, Denver Broncos fans?  Must be, since a record crowd packed the grassy berms of the practice fields in Dove Valley.  People lined up hours early to pick the prime seats to watch Peyton Manning‘s debut in orange (though quarterbacks wear navy blue during practice).

At last official count, attendance was up to 3,365 people, but later totals had that number closer to 3,600.  Regardless of official total, no one training camp practice has ever drawn this many fans.

The high attendance quickly filled the main parking lot, forcing people to park at Arapahoe County Community Park, at least a half-mile’s walk from the practice field.

Fans who got there early were treated to the closest “seats,” best sight lines, and perhaps a high-five or two from players whose post route led them a bit too close to the gallery of people.  Those who arrived late, well, were forced to duck and weave around pine trees and patiently wait for the action to move to the sliver of field they could see.

Regardless of where fans were seated, getting the first look at the 2012 Denver Broncos is a well spent July morning with several thousand of your closest friends!

UPDATE: The official attendance today was 4,372 people, which broke the old training camp record by over 1,000.
