Jack Del Rio’s Family Ties Run Strong

Perhaps the reason why you’re a Denver Broncos fan is because of your father. That’s the funny thing about sports. Certain teams run strong in blood lines. Just ask nearly all of the residents in Green Bay.

Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post put out a great father’s day article on new defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and his son, Luke. Football runs deep in the Del Rio blood line. When Luke was born, Jack literally played a game for the Minnesota Vikings that same day.

Now Luke is a senior at Valor Christian High School. He isn’t a linebacker like his father, but he does like being the one in charge. Luke plays quarterback and has even given an oral commitment to sign with Oklahoma State.

While still in Denver, however, Luke has been taking advantage of his Hall of Fame resources. He’s been shadowing Peyton Manning during the off season and he’s soaking in John Elway’s words.

"“I want him to just understand how fortunate and how blessed he is. I think he does appreciate it,” said Jack Del Rio. “The part about growing up in this is he’s been able to see how you do it and how you don’t.” – Jack Del Rio to the Denver Post"
