The Tennessee ties in Broncos County run thick. Peyton Manning, Britton Colquitt, Robert Ayers, and Malik Jackson were once Vols and their loyalty to the school runs strong.
Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post wrote a great piece about Dan Carlson who helped bring Manning to Tennessee as a graduate assistant in the football recruiting office.
Carlson was set be a college athlete himself before a severe car accident left him with a cervical spinal cord injury, and in a wheelchair. Carlson paid the Broncos a visit Monday and also sat down with Kiszla to talk about his relationship with Manning.
“He came in with questions for the football staff. He really grilled them,” Carlson recalled. “He wasn’t coming just to take in the sights. He had a list of things he wanted to know. Imagine that for a high school senior.” – Dan Carlson on Peyton Manning’s visit to Tennessee
