Imagine the three young quarterbacks on the Denver Broncos roster. You have Caleb Hanie, Brock Osweiler, and Adam Weber in one of the largest shadows of all time.
“The young guys kind of look at him like he’s a two-headed monster sometimes,” offensive coordinator Mike McCoy said about Peyton Manning.
Some young guys have a hard time asking questions for whatever reason, but for the purpose of their careers, these three need to take advantage of studying under Manning.
“The great thing about it is Peyton approaches them too, and Peyton’s the first one to encourage them, and give them advice on the field which is great,” McCoy said. “Everyone in this business is scared for their job because as coaches and organizations, you’re always looking for better.”
Yeah, and the thing about playing quarterback in the NFL, is you never know where you’re going to end up. A year or two under Manning could propel Hanie into the realm of top tier quarterback. Look at Aaron Rodgers under Brett Favre.
The point is, injury or no injury, every quarterback on the roster has a chance to be a starter so now is the time to marinade in some Manning knowledge.
