Peyton Manning, Mike McCoy To Rely On One Another For Success

Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy received a lot of criticism last season for his play calling. His brain was the catalyst for the Broncos being ranked No. 1 in rushing, yet many wanted to see a more diverse playbook.

Nevertheless, McCoy impressed many with his ability to tailor the Broncos offense to Tim Tebow’s strengths. He was so impressive that he was a top candidate for the Miami Dolphins’ head coaching job, and the Oakland Raiders also had an interest in him prior to hiring Dennis Allen.

Credit McCoy for turning nothing into something. Now let’s see if he can turn something into something more with the best offensive weapon in the game.

Albert Breer of NFL.com looked at the Mike McCoy-Peyton Manning pairing earlier this week.

"And that’s why this pairing, on its face anyway, looks perfect. Manning wants to carry out McCoy’s vision, and that vision happens to be evolving to where Manning has the best chance to succeed.“You look at the zone-read (option) last year with Tim,” McCoy said. “We did a nice job with it, so we just kept running it. And we got to the point where we were comfortable running it from any point on the field. It’ll be the same thing with Peyton. There are certain things we’ll do well with him, and maybe things we don’t do as well, and we’ll keep doing what we’re doing well.” – NFL.com"

Manning can easily turn McCoy into the top head coaching candidate after the 2012 season. McCoy can turn Manning into a two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback.

A lot depends on these two men, and these two men will depend a lot on each other.
