The Denver Broncos held a conference call with about 6,000 season ticket holders Tuesday. In case you weren’t able to call in, Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post gives a good recap of the call which was highlighted by quarterback talk.
Elway gave a strong endorsement of rookie quarterback Brock Osweileras Manning’s eventual successor. The Broncos drafted Osweiler at No. 57 in the second round.
“When we looked at Brock, the ability to get that type of quarterback, who I believe has a tremendous amount of upside, I feel like we got great value with that pick,” Elway said. “We are set for the future, and he’s our guy for the future. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the short term for the long term to draft a guy that you believe can be that next guy for you, and that’s Brock Osweiler.”
